ACA marketplace costs spike in 2026

ACA Marketplace enrollment in freefall as premium tax credit expiration drives millions off of “subsidy cliff.”

Average deductibles for Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace plans rose sharply in 2026, increasing by 37%, or more than $1,000 per person, as enhanced premium tax credits expired. 

According to an analysis by KFF, deductibles climbed from $2,759 in 2025 to $3,786 in 2026, marking the steepest increase since the marketplaces were created.
