SEC releases 2026 regulatory agenda, with crypto at its center

With this 2026 rulemaking agenda, the SEC teases its ideas around modifying some of its bedrock rules, particularly to accommodate the digital asset sector.

SEC Chair Paul Atkins has proposed agency rule changes he says will “help clarify the regulatory framework for crypto assets and provide greater certainty to the market” as part of its annual agenda.

Atkins said that the agency’s 2026 rulemaking agenda was intended to align with the Trump administration’s policy
