Push to accelerate electronic prior authorization adoption gains momentum

Twenty-nine healthcare organizations have joined CMS in a national effort to streamline electronic prior authorization before new federal requirements take effect in 2027.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced 29 healthcare organizations across the country have signed on as early adopters of its new Electronic Prior Authorization Acceleration initiative, a program designed to modernize the prior authorization ePA process ahead of federal requirements taking effect on January 1, 2027.
