FinCEN repeals beneficial ownership reporting requirement for US businesses

This rule adopts the exemptions from the interim final rule issued in 2025, solidifying the rollback of beneficial ownership reporting by US enterprises.

The US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has permanently rescinded the Corporate Transparency Act’s (CTA’s) requirement that US legal entities identify their beneficial owners. The agency said it will delete this type of information previously submitted by them.
