The Commission’s latest communication could reshape compliance, signaling changes to capitalization, crossborder banking, and supervision.

Today, there are 4500 banks and around 650 banking groups operating in the EU. Banks play a significant role for the EU economy as, unlike other markets, they are the major source of support for businesses and SMEs, providing 75% of corporate debt financing.
