FinCEN spots $13 billion linked to suspected digital asset scams

The growing number of such scams, FinCEN said, are largely perpetrated by transnational criminal organizations operating “industrial-scale scam compounds” with networks of criminal actors.

Nearly $13 billion in suspicious transactions linked to suspected digital asset fraud operated by overseas scam centers, particularly emanating out of Southeast Asia, has been identified by the US Treasury’s financial crime unit, FinCEN.
