CFTC approves relaxed startup fund collateral rules

The approved rule gives temporary relief from certain margin requirement calculations and expands the government money market fund shares allowed as collateral.

Newly-established investment funds will be provided with relief after the CFTC approved changes to its margin rules covering uncleared swaps, allowing those funds to calculate their initial margin requirements separately from their sponsors’ swap activity for a period of up to three years.
