Culture is a key driver of conduct says Singapore regulator

Monetary Authority of Singapore’s paper outlines outcomes it expects financial institutions to aim for to achieve “sound” organizational culture.

The regulator insists that it does not want to be prescriptive, and emphasizes two key regulatory objectives in its information paper:

  • ethical business practices that safeguard customers and ensure their fair treatment;
  • prudent risk-taking and robust risk management to support the safety and soundness of financial institutions.
