Elevance sues CMS over Medicare Advantage star-rating calculus

Compliance, regulatory fairness, and $115m in bonus payments are at the heart of why insurer Elevance Health says it is taking CMS to court.

Elevance Health has filed a lawsuit against the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), arguing the agency unfairly handled its 2026 Medicare Advantage (MA) star ratings compared with those for competitor Clover Health.
