Dr Marty Makary resigned Tuesday as commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after weeks of internal pressure and disagreement with the administration. Kyle Diamantas, the agency’s top food regulator, was named acting commissioner.
Makary’s departure followed conflict over the authorization of fruitâflavored eâcigarettes, a policy he
