SEC proposes expanding access to private markets with rule amendments

The SEC wants to expand the circumstances for an RIA to receive performance-based comp and give investors more ways to become accredited.

To expand everyday investor access to private market instruments, the SEC voted to propose rule amendments to expand retailization following its meeting on September 30. The agency is taking an approach that has been touted by the current three SEC commissioners for some time as well as by President Trump himself.
