SEC settles with Elon Musk for $1.5m over Twitter buyout

The settlement is a lukewarm end to a case in which the SEC alleged Musk avoided paying about $150m.

Elon Musk (or rather, his revocable trust) has settled with the SEC for $1.5m over allegations that he failed to timely disclose his stake in Twitter (now X), allowing him to artificially buy up shares at a reduced price during his leveraged buyout of the company for $44 billion in 2022.
