Cyprus assumes Presidency of the Council of the EU

Under the motto “An Autonomous Union. Open to the World,” Cyprus is back at the helm of the EU Council Presidency, prioritizing defense, security, and competitiveness.

On January 1, 2026, following its trio partners Poland and Denmark, which held the presidency through 2025, as well as its own earlier presidency in 2012, Cyprus took the helm of the Presidency of the Council of the EU.
