Audit of major payor found most in-home diagnoses supported by records

An external audit of the insurers in-home assessment program for Medicare Advantage seniors found nearly all diagnoses made during visits were supported by medical records.

An external audit conducted by FTI Consulting has found 96.6% of diagnoses assessed by UnitedHealth’s HouseCalls program were confirmed by patients’ medical records, leaving just 3.4% unsupported. The insurer noted that most of the unsupported diagnoses were validated by other data sources, such as paid claims.
