Biometrics and emotion analysis risk increasing discrimination, ICO warns

UK regulator to issue guidance on deployment of “immature” technologies.

The UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is warning organisations about using emotion analysis technologies without accessing the public risks. The regulator fears that, without sufficiently developed algorithms to detect emotional cues, there is a risk of systemic bias, inaccuracy and discrimination.
