BNP Paribas loses $20m Sudan jury trial, expects reversal on appeal

The New York federal case was tried under Swiss civil law.

BNP Paribas shares fell on Monday and were down 2% again on Tuesday after a federal trial jury in the Southern District of New York found the French bank liable for aiding Sudan’s regime from 2002 to 2009 and awarded three plaintiffs, all Sudanese refugees, a total of $20.75m.
