EU opens first-ever antitrust probe in medtech sector

The case against a US dental technology company suggests that regulators may be expanding scrutiny into medical device markets and digital health.

The Directorate-General for Competition, the European Commission’s antitrust regulator, has opened a formal investigation into a dental technology company to determine whether sales practices for its teeth aligner product and dental scanners violate competition rules.
