A federal judge has vacated a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) rule governing Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace eligibility determinations.

The 2024 CMS rule expanded federal authority to review and override state eligibility decisions. Multiple states and advocacy groups challenged the regulation, asserting that CMS exceeded its statutory authority
