FinCEN, banking agencies release FAQs on digital credentials

Document answers two new FAQs and updates another, addressing CIPs and use of government-issued verifiable digital credentials.

Financial institutions can use a mobile driver’s license or other government-issued virtual ID as a form of documentary verification for purposes of the institution’s customer identification program (CIP) compliance program, as long as they maintain the appropriate technology or systems to extract the relevant information from the IDs.
