Fraudsters are using stolen identities and other means to acquire funds from Federal student aid programs.

FinCEN has issued a warning regarding fraud targeting student financial aid, reporting that fraud rings are using stolen identities and synthetic documents to siphon money from Federal student aid programs.

The alert, issued July 24 and designated FIN-2026-Alert004, was published jointly with the Department of Education’s Office of Inspector
