FTC sues Zillow and Redfin over alleged anticompetitive deal

The regulator claims that the companies’ agreement to effectively eliminate Redfin represents an illegal acquisition and would destroy rental advertising competition.

The FTC has announced it is suing real estate marketplace giants Zillow and Redfin over a partnership including a steep payoff that the regulator claims is illegal.

According to the FTC, the two former competitors signed an agreement on February 6, 2025, that involved Redfin leaving the internet listing services
