UK opens consultation on once-in-a-generation corporate reporting overhaul

The changes are billed as common-sense measures designed to save businesses more than £450m ($609) a year.

Describing the exercise as an opportunity to build “the most proportionate framework in the world,” the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST) has launched a wide-ranging consultation on modernizing the UK’s corporate reporting framework. Published on September 7, 2026, the consultation runs for 12 weeks and closes on November 30, 2026.
