CMA investigates Microsoft for misleading customers over subscription plans

Microsoft’s Copilot was incorporated into memberships without customers’ knowledge or consent.

The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating Microsoft after customers said they were not informed about a price rise in subscription plans.

From January 2025, Microsoft automatically gave existing customers access to new features including Copilot, an AI copy drafting and revision tool, for free for their remaining
