FCA to bring BNPL under regulatory oversight from July

The FCA wants the regime to be proportionate, while the industry has welcomed regulatory clarity.

Buy now pay later (BNPL) providers will formally enter the regulatory perimeter for the first time on July 15, 2026. The sector has risen steadily, projected to expand from $10.87 billion in 2025 to $14.09 billion in 2026, at a CAGR of 29.6%, per a Research and Markets report.
