In this podcast, GRIP’s Julie DiMauro spoke with Kosta Kadas, the senior director, co-head of business conduct at National Bank of Canada within the bank’s capital markets compliance team.
They discussed AI-driven compliance surveillance, which can involve many different capabilities from scanning corporate data to flagging policy deviations.
Kadas specifically highlighted:
- how his firm has integrated AI through the use of LLMs into its communications monitoring program;
- how the right tools eliminate the “noise” for the compliance officers that perform reviews on a variety of comms;
- why it’s critical to find tools that identify the relevant risks to your business and be able to monitor them;
- balancing privacy and other obligations while surveilling communications involving internal and external parties;
- how to get all internal stakeholders comfortable with the technology;
- why production data must be benchmarked against the prior ways of monitoring as part of regular testing.
