Pharma speaker bureau alleged to cross into FCA territory, settles for $13.6m

The agreement resolves allegations into whether the company’s speaker programs and meals for physicians violated anti-kickback laws.

Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA has agreed to pay $13.6m to resolve federal allegations that it violated the Anti‑Kickback Statute (AKS) by providing improper payments and benefits – such as lavish meals – to healthcare providers to encourage prescriptions of its antidepressant Trintellix, according to the US Department of Justice (DOJ).
