Changes to EU Benchmark Regulation aim to simplify regime

The European Commission has proposed changes to EU BMR scope but retains third-country routes to EU access.

The European Commission published its long-awaited legislative proposal to amend the EU Benchmarks Regulation (EU BMR) on October 17, 2023. The proposal still needs to be reviewed by the European Parliament and the Council but, if adopted in its current form, it will (amongst other things):

  • considerably reduce the scope
