Datatilsynet reports 2024 as record year for new cases and data breaches

The authority issued its largest fine to date, and experienced an increase in reports of personal data breaches.

The Danish Data Protection Authority Datatilsynet is labelling 2024 as a record year with more new cases and “many important guidance initiatives, larger case complexes and assignments of an international nature.” The authority created 18,816 new cases – the highest number of cases to date, and 754 more cases than 2023.
