SEC and CFTC act ahead of Congress with joint crypto guidance

The guidance says most digital assets are not securities but stops short of creating a full market framework.

While the Senate continues to scrutinize the House-passed CLARITY Act, the SEC and CFTC have moved ahead with their own joint crypto framework. The SEC issued a 68-page guidance document laying out how it views digital assets under existing federal securities and commodities law, which the CFTC joined.
