UK’s ICO urges online platforms to strengthen age verification measures

Social media and video sharing platforms operating in the UK have been asked to play their part in ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing online, as regulators say current status-quo is not working.

The UK’s Information Commissioner has sent an open letter to social media and video sharing platforms urging them to review and strengthen their age verification measures and make sure children do not access content that is age-inappropriate and potentially harmful.
