World regulators tackle investor fraud lurking in social media

As consumers turn to social media for financial advice, the chances for fraud are a new reality. Global financial regulators have some plans for tackling the problem.

Global regulators have been launching initiatives to eliminate online fraud and scams, starting with removing scores of imposter sites posing as legitimate crypto trading platforms.

Just last week, the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) issued an investor alert about fraudsters impersonating CIRO-registered firms in social media advertisements.
