ASIC fines two firms combined $38m for misleading customers

Penalty is one of the highest ASIC has ever obtained for misleading conduct and false or misleading representations relating to financial products and services.

Australia’s Federal Court has imposed a combined A$55m ($38m) financial penalty against two firms accused of misleading conduct and false or misleading representations they made during a national advertising campaign.

The combined figure, one of the largest ever obtained by the country’s securities regulator ASIC, includes a A$35m ($24.3m) fine
